Greenside & Common Lane
Oakenshaw Lane

Walton is separated from the City of Wakefield by Green Belt land. In 2004 an attempt was made to convert some of that land for use by the West Yorkshire Sports and Social Club - the club's land in Sandal Magna was to be used for a housing development. It now seems that the club will be relocated to Brook Farm in Walton (2014).

So far, the narrow strip of Green Belt protected land has remained in place and Walton is still a village separated by farmland from other settlements.
