The Lord of the Manor, 2012
The Lord of the Manor
(As 'twas - now back to being the Goose and Cowslip.)

Sir Titus Salt, founder of the new model mill and village at Saltaire, near Bradford, lived here until 1822.
A wealthy mill owner and capitalist, he was also a local philanthropist. He believed that factories, amassing fortunes and free-market capitalism were not incompatible with helping the working classes achieve material comfort and moral virtue. Yorkshire and, indeed, the rest of England, went through turbulent times during the Industrial Revolution in the 19th Century. Bradford was at the centre of the change and soon Saltaire became engulfed by the industrial expansion of its large neighbour.
Titus Salt died in 1876 at the age of 73 years.
