WEST YORKSHIRE

Idle, Bradford, West Yorkshire
Idle
is a residential area in the north-east of the city of Bradford. Once it was a separate village and, before that, the Manor of Idle. It is bordered by the areas of Eccleshill, Wrose, Thackley, Apperley Bridge, and Greengates. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Millman Bridge is a kilometre or so away.

Leeds
is the cultural, financial and commercial heart of West Yorkshire and much of the North of England. The city is Britain's largest centre for business, legal, and financial services outside London.

NORTH YORKSHIRE

Kellingley Colliery
Kellingley Colliery
, is located just by Knottingley, between the River Aire and the Knottingley & Goole Canal. The last, and now closed, deep mine in the United Kingdom.

Stapleton Hall
Stapleton Hall, set in Stapleton Park
, now demolished. I was once considered as a possible location for a mental hospital by the West Riding Mental Hospital Board. Located to the south of Pontefract, close to Wakefield District.

SOUTH YORKSHIRE

Barnsley
Barnsley
is a large town in South Yorkshire. It is the City of Wakefield's neighbour to the south. Historically, just like Wakefield, it was in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It lies on the River Dearne. Barnsley and a number of smaller towns and villages form the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley.
Barnsley is a former industrial town centred on coal mining and glass making. These industries went into decline in the 20th century. It is also home of the Barnsley chop.

Monckton Main & Royston Drift Mine
Monckton Main & Royston Drift Mine.

The Monckton Main Colliery was open from 1878 to 1966, and the Royston Drift Mine was in operation from 1976 until 1989. After the mines closed the site became Monckton Coke and Chemical Works.

Rabbit Ings Country Park

was created on the site of the Monckton Main Colliery (1878 - 1966) and Royston Drift Mine (1976 - 1989).
(South Yorkshire)

Sheffield, South Yorkshire

is a large city and metropolitan borough. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, its name derives from the River Sheaf, that runs through the city.
